I just loved the way the giraffe is situated.  It makes me think of how we people try so hard not to be obvious when we are trying to listen in to a conversation.  When I was teaching, I used to ask my students if they had ever tried to  eavesdrop on a conversation.  Of course they had.  We would discuss how they tried hard not to look at the people because then whoever would know they were listening.  Not so this giraffe!  But then I told my students that if they would at least look at me when I am talking, if nothing else I will think they are listening.   They may be thinking about dinner or a movie, but I would think they were listening!

Makes sense to me. Eye contact does seem to be an important cue to providing the illusion of listening. And having a long neck with a small head can help in the secret eavesdropping department.
